Initially, Siddharth Anand, director of the first "War" film, hinted at a sequel. In April 2023, Yash Raj Films confirmed "War 2," with Ayan Mukerji taking over as director. Principal photography began in October 2023, with shooting locations including Mumbai, Salamanca, Abu Dhabi, Kashmir, and various sites in Italy such as Venice, Lake Como, Tuscany, Naples, the Sorrento Peninsula, and the Amalfi Coast.
